Do you have questions about selling food directly to consumers? The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services along with the Tri-County Community College Small Business Center, Cherokee County Cooperative Extension Service and the Cherokee County Health Department are offering a food compliance workshop at no charge! Susan Parrish, Food Regulatory Supervisor with the NCDA&CS’ Food & Drug Protection Division, will provide compliance information and answers to your questions on selling fresh produce, meats, poultry and value-added products directly to consumers. This session will define low and high risk value-added foods, the inspection process, regulations, guidelines for home processing and guidelines for food sales at farmer’s and tailgate (curb) markets. Alli Gray, Environmental Health Specialist with the Cherokee County Health Department, will talk on Food Service Permits, Food Service Plans and Fee Schedules.
